Accepted Talks:
A whirlwind tour of OpenStreetMap
In this interactive and participatory talk, we’ll attempt to answer the following questions -
1. What is OpenStreetMap?
2. In what ways can it be used?
3. How can you start using the OSM data?
4. How can you start improving the OSM data?
5. Why should you prefer OSM over proprietary maps?
Learn to edit OpenStreetMap
In this workshop, we’ll take a look at a few simple ways of contributing to OpenStreetMap. These include -
- the web-based desktop editor, iD
- the gamified Android editor, StreetComplete; and
- the web-based cross-platform editor, MapComplete.
We’ll learn to add shops, amenities, streets, and buildings…and any other kinds of features the participants may be interested in.
Depending on participant interest, we can also explore a few different ways of querying and downloading the data.
